GTA V Stood up for a Date?

With the release date for GTA V yet to be announced from Rockstar games, there are already rumors circling that it will miss its projected March launch. Many are speculating
that it could be released as late as May 2013, due to the lack of lead time given to retailers
to prepare for the launch, and Rockstar’s determination to prioritise quality over an earlier
release date. Considering GTA V has been in the works since 2008 at least, they seem to
be spending grand amount of time working on quality.

Others however have claimed that a 2012 release may be on the cards, but this seems highly unlikely, as Take-Two are hardly going to want to compete with Black Ops II and Halo 4 in the November release margin. Though the option can’t be totally discarded.

Either way, it seems that right now, a late spring release seems more likely. With BioShock
Infinite opting for a spring release, and Prey 2 being delayed and recently removed from
Bethesda’s website, it seems developers are focusing more on quality, and optimum
release windows, rather than the ‘as early as possible’ mantra.

Either way, it will hopefully come sooner rather than later, and with Rockstar releasing more screenshots of in-game features, such as the 20th August trio of images labelled Transport, it appears that the game is ready to start being promoted further, a while after it’s trailer release in November 2011. Let’s just hope, for our eager selves, and the financial backers, that spring 2013 remains the most likely option for the release of GTA V.
